Hi,

I'm a 17 year old girl, and I've been subscribed to your weekly emails for a while. I have found them to be spot on, and very helpful.

Just want to thank you for them, and for all of the work that you do. You really are making a difference.

As parents we did everything we could. We come from good families, we sent our son to good yeshivas. We consulted with doctors, therapists and rebbeim. We went to shiurim and parenting classes. But when it became obvious to us that we could not help our son lead a life that was meaningful to him, when there was a real disconnect in his yiddishkeit, we turned to Rabbi Gluck. Rabbi Gluck and his team at Areivim work with the entire person with acceptance, kindness, patience and firmness as required.  The families invite him for shabbosim and take interest in his life. They share with him their experiences and challenges. He now thinks about his future and speaks about wanting to one day mentor others, to be a part of the Areivim community long term. We are grateful that Hashem guided us to Rabbi Gluck and have hope that our son will continue to grow under his care.

Grateful Parents

Thank you for the Areivim newsletter. Ihr ret tzum zach. And if that's not a compliment, what is?

Having read this email earlier this morning, I was too distressed to contemplate replying. Eight hours later, I have gathered enough courage to reply. I have had a son under the care of Rabbi Gluck, Moshe & Ace for almost four years. Although my son is back in Sydney with us at home, he is in constant touch with Ace & Moshe to guide him through the various issues that he has. He owes a great gratitude to ALL at Areivim for not only saving his life on a number of occasions, but for giving him the courage to continue with Torah & Yiddishkeit & living. The Torah says if you have saved one life, you have saved the world. I know that Areivim has saved many, many lives over the years. How can we even contemplate that they should close down? Support must be found to keep them afloat for the long term. I wish I had the funds to be able to contribute significantly to help Areivim. I have stayed with Moshe & his dear family, I have eaten with both Moshe & Ace & I saw with my own eyes what they do to assist the kids at risk. I have met with Rabbi Gluck & his team & seen & read of the work he does. Please save Areivim’s life. NOW & FOREVER, Hakadosh Barukhu should count the tears of the parents who have been comforted by the work that Areivim does. Where do these kids go to now? Who do they call, Who do they speak to – even from Sydney, Australia.

Thanks & Regards, M.G.

….I have been working with at risk kids for 5 years now and I know how much Areivim has helped so many teenagers get their lives back in order. I hope that some of you will be able to help this organization financially as they are saving Jewish lives. THERE IS NO QUESTION ABOUT THAT. We as caring Jews can’t let this happen….

Thank you very much for meeting with our son and suggesting the right yeshiva for him. He was accepted into the Bais Medrash and is very happy and looking forward to a great year.

…You helped turn a very difficult situation into a manageable situation….

Many thanks for the time spent with us on the phone and in person, giving us chizuk and advice. With a touch of humor.

…My family has been personally touched by Areivim – we need them. Our community needs them…

Thank you so much for helping us out with our son, we greatly appreciate your help in this difficult time. We recognize Areivim’s great expertise in this field.

I feel that by Areivim they really understand me, they don’t judge me or put me down. This is really special to me, because I didn’t know that I could find people in the world that are there for me to guide me in the right way…..

Rachel

…I am truly blown away by the dedication of Areivim’s staff and the work that they do. I’ve never experienced a place where their homes are open seriously 24 hours a day for any of these kids, they have kids living in their homes at all times, they take care of them, they take them off the streets, try to get them into schools, Israel, jobs and helping them get over drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, and any other issues that they may have…

…I was overwhelmed seeing how someone can truly give up everything just because they feel they are doing the right thing….

….the souls of these teenagers are in their hands.

“In today’s world, all of us take care to insure our cars, our homes and our health. However, when a family, or child, is in crisis, Areivim is the insurance policy for our community. No matter how much discomfort or complexity, Areivim will step up to the plate, even in the middle of the night. It has a staff of licensed professionals at their beck and call, to assist with direct interventions. In cases that require outside consultation, a call is placed to a professional, and appropriate referrals are made. Areivim does not stop at the end of the crisis. It provides the aftercare necessary to keep things going well. We all pay for our insurance policies. It’s time to lend a hand to Areivim, our community insurance policy.”

“Without a doubt, the single most influential force in my life has been Areivim…. Instead of trying to target one issue, they focused on the “big picture” of my overall well-being and stability. I didn’t gain a specific quality or benefit- I gained myself, and through that, I was able to focus on growth. This is where Areivim differs from other establishments. I now have that foundation with me for the rest of my life.”

Thank you, Areivim

Dear Rabbi Gluck Amv"sh

I have been on your email list for almost a year, to be exact your first weekly email started on November 27th of last year. Words cannot describe how lucky  my wife and I are, being provided with your weekly Parsha, Yom tov, and educational thoughts.

As parents we've always tried to offer a proper chinuch and always spice it up so it develops a Simchas Hachaim considering ourselves as servants to the master of creation by following Torah Umitzvos, rather than just feeling that we have no other choice but to do it so long we want to remain fit within the system. We have B"H dealt with teenagers for the past 9 years and iy"h still some 9 years more to go. I must admit that a good number of your articles served to us as an eye opener dealing with them in todays generation.

It further came in to good use as parents. It also helped us out whenever my wife and I were discussing the Baruch Hashem routinely issues in how to properly raise, and more so respond to our children in time of need. We all know that as parents, not only are we not allow to compare kids to their siblings, what makes it even more difficult when you got no clue of latest global developments. All we keep asking ourselves  where did they pick up their so called new ideas from? but we fail to realize that just like Apple, and Samsong develop something creative daily with their new ideas, the Zeh L'umas Zeh goes parallel along with them as well. I believe that, failure to realize and react accordingly, may eventually lead to tremendous risks in our future generation.

While we happen to be Viznitz'er Chasidim, We believe that people with the European innocence our grand parents were raised with, while living in small non developed communities was sufficient enough to survive challenges of their times, However it does not adequately help fighting the challenges of our times.

I will admit that amongst some acquaintances we may be considered a little open minded in some areas, we believe that in our times today, we must offer education sharing our educational point of view with the kids whenever responding to them when noticing a sign of rebellion behavior in order to keep them out of trouble. In some cases when surprising them negatively we fear, and considered the outcome.

B"H with great Siyato Dishmayo we succeeded raising them to be fine educated, ethical Torah scholars. may they with Hashems help forever be happy and succeed in their lives with success. and so do we pray and hope for continued success.

With Tefillah and hope for your continued success, I remain.

B. Taub, NY

R’ Shmuel,

I am on your mailing list because we once communicated regarding a boy I was learning with. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your weekly email. Your straightforward, common sense, matter of fact approach to the many issues that you write about are so refreshing, inspirational and enlightening!! I am very grateful to you for everything that you do on behalf of this faction of Klal Yisrael. May the Eibishter grant you many years and much strength to continue doing what you do, and may you see much nachas from your children and talmidim!!

I realize that you probably prefer a donation to a long winded email. I am not in a position to donate right now, however I am overwhelmed by what you do, and wanted to let you know.

Thank you again!

a Freilichen Chanukah -
Dear Rabbi GLuck

I'm a big fan of the Areivim publication. Every week you seem to consistently hit the piece on chinuch out of the park. This week, Parshas Vayeishev, however, was different. You hit a grand-slam! I'm a special educator, doing private tutoring which often lends itself to doings 'social work' at the same time. During most of my working hours, however, I'm in retail. So, my interpersonal relationships are at an extreme high. As I was reading your piece this week I was thinking to myself how common sense is definitely not common. Your pointers were so on to mark and shocking how humans, for the most part we can call themselves human ad are able to conduct themselves in such a fashion. Both special education or retail or anybody who has any form of human interaction needs to know that people are needy. In the sense that have needs and desires. They have thought processes and they need to be validated. Hatzlacha with your great work. Looking forward t reading the book!

All the Best,
A.R

Rabbi Gluck,

Thank you very much for your emails. While I usually don't read the Torah/chizuk emails that I got from various places, they do automatically get sorted into their own folders. I went through a couple of emails now & and as is usually the case, it's given lots of food for my brain to chew on.

A lichtige Chanuka!

I became aware of Areivim for girls, a few weeks ago, when I was desperately networking for an eighteen year old girl, from a severely dysfunctional home.As a Flatbush resident for many years ,I know a lot of people who are involved in all types of chessed.I could not find ONE place for Sarah, due to her age and emotional problems, that were able to take her in for more than a day or two.I finally connected with Rabbi Gluck, and within minutes of speaking to him ,I felt relieved that somebody, somewhere, understood what Sarah needed.and was able to provide a practical solution.

The very next day I had sarah packed up , and on the way to Pomona,NY.

Sarah is not an easy case, and needs a tremendous amount of help.Rabbi gluck and Miriam Devorah are working tirelessly to connect sarah with therapists, doctors, as well as driving her to shiurim daily. They are in tune with every aspect both in gashmius and ruchniyus. There is no other program like this that exists to my knowledge.A safe haven for jewish girls that do not fit into any category ,and are not enrolled in school.A place where a girl ,who has not had much joy in her life, called me on the fourth night of Chanukah ,to tell me she just had the most amazing experience doing paint night.A place where she has counselors to speak to,and most importantly ,a place that she feels safe.

It is vital for all the lost  Jewish  teenage girls out there ,that don't fit into any particular mold ,to have a safe haven called Areivim exist.

With much appreciation,
Lisa E

I wanted to let you know that baruch Hashem I got engaged last week to ----. I wanted to thank you so much for being a really big influence on who I am and for helping me reach this stage of my life. I'm so grateful for the very many hours, the patience, and the respect and guidance you gave me at a time when I was really struggling and I wasn't even quite sure how to express myself. It set a foundation for me to always strive for emotional health, and equilibrium even throughout lifes many ups and downs. I felt very blessed to have the security of knowing that there was someone I could reach out to if I felt stuck or in the dark and I always gained more clarity after we spoke. So much of what we discussed continued to help me even years later. I don't think I'll ever find the right words to thank you but as I reach this point of my life it's clear that there were several people Hashem sent me along the way to strengthen me, prepare me, and build me for being able to take this next big step and I'm so so grateful.

May Hashem bring tremendous hatslacha to all of Rabbi Glucks efforts to help others, with clarity, health, and simcha! May we share in many more smachot and greet Mashiach so soon!

A healthy & grateful Jewish Daughter

AREIVIM IN THE NEWS

The Yeshiva World:
"Reb Shmuel Kaminetzky clearly declared that Areivim is a community organization serving a community need. Accordingly, even those fortunate families who have never required Areivim’s services are responsible to support its work. “There is no difference,” the Rosh Hayeshiva pointed out, “between supporting Areivim and supporting Tomchei Shabbos and Hatzoloh”. “Saving our teens at risk,” he continued, “is to be recognized and given the same privileges and support as other organizations that involve themselves with Hatzolas Nefoshos, that of saving a person’s life.” While one can hope to not have to call upon such organizations for assistance, these community organizations still require the universal support of the communities they serve."

"Rabbi Gluck places hundreds of kids in assorted schools where they fit in best, at no cost. This organization has helped those who cannot flourish in the bigger yeshivas. If a child has ADHD or other issues, there are schools which can deal with him effectively."
